Recommended file specifications for DigiKor Outdoor Billboards and Indoor DigiBoards.

Outdoor Billboards — Still Images

Venus Control Suite supports still image playback on Daktronics 11′ x 22′ outdoor LED billboards (384 x 192 pixels, 15.85 mm pixel pitch), with files uploaded to the Media Library for playlists. Configure in Schedule Mode. Verify pixel matrix in display settings. Use Daktronics Web Editor or Content Studio for creation.

Supported File Formats

  • Recommended: PNG
  • Acceptable: JPEG/JPG, BMP, Daktronics VMPF

Resolution & Dimensions

  • Resolution: 72 dpi
  • Dimensions: 384 px wide × 192 px high (match pixel matrix exactly); auto-resize possible but may distort. Limit to <3x display size
  • Max Pixel Limits: 100 million (local); ~45 million (cloud)

Color Mode & Pixel Settings

  • Color Mode: RGB
  • Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square

Additional Guidelines

  • Playlist Integration: Up to 120 files; enable validation for matches
  • Duration: <15 seconds optimal; set Image Duration
  • Transitions: Use smooth loops/transitions
  • Design Tips: Vibrant colors, high contrast, brief text with large fonts. Avoid white backgrounds; add outlines/shadows. Consider viewing distance

Indoor DigiBoards — Still Images

File Formats

PNG is recommended. Other acceptable formats include JPEG/JPG and BMP.

Resolution & Color

  • Resolution: 72 DPI
  • Color Mode: RGB
  • Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square

Dimensions

  • Poster ads: 1080 × 1560 pixels
  • Banner ads: 1080 × 360 pixels
  • Match the exact pixel dimensions of the display to avoid distortion. Files can be up to 3x the display dimensions but should not exceed 45 million pixels (cloud) or 100 million pixels (local).

When using playlist validation in Venus Control Suite, images must match the target display's dimensions or aspect ratio. For best results on LCD screens, ensure text and logos contrast with backgrounds, and avoid predominantly white backgrounds to prevent washout.

Indoor DigiBoards — Video

Video can be up to 10 seconds in duration.

Supported File Formats

  • Recommended: MP4, MOV, Daktronics VMPF, Uncompressed AVI
  • Acceptable: MPG, MPEG, MP4, MOV, WMV, Uncompressed AVI
  • Unsupported: QuickTime/RLE (lossless format from Adobe After Effects)

Codecs & Compression

Recommended/Preferred: Uncompressed, H.264, or MPEG-4

Frame Rate

Videos are rendered at 29.97 frames per second (fps).

Resolution & Dimensions

  • Must match the LCD display's pixel dimensions exactly:
  • Poster ads: 1080 × 1560
  • Banner ads: 1080 × 360

Aspect Ratio & Pixel Settings

  • Use a square pixel aspect ratio (1:1).
  • Associated images should be in RGB color mode at 72 dpi.
